Venus is aligning with Pluto three times until March 2022. First conjunction is today, December 11th, the next ones will be on December 25th and March 3rd. Venus has already made a conjunction with Pluto in the beginning of the year, on January 28th. So, it is interesting to consider your situation around that time. The first conjunction between Venus and Pluto was accompanied by a full moon in Leo, opposite Jupiter (conjunct the Sun). We are talking about valuable issues for each of us, choices we have made that intended to make us expand but that required some kind of deep transformation.
Venus is the astrological symbol for love, harmony, fertility and the feminine - it is an attractive energy. But the alignment with Pluto makes Venus fall on her knees. This is the ancient myth about the love goddess’ journey to the underworld, the archetypal story of the love ache. In order to enter the unknown realms of the deep unconscious, love makes us naked. When we really love someone, we can’t hide who we really are. Our essence becomes exposed and we become vulnerable. And then, we can be truly loved, for who we are.
It really is beautiful, but it can feel like a tragic comedy. The masks we wear simply fall apart when we open up to a loved one. Our defense strategies don’t work anymore. We are then able to experience a transformation, if we just surrender. And that’s when we can really absorb the lessons of Pluto: when we surrender to its indomitable power.
Exposing the essence of Venus means that deep motivations come to the surface. There can be peak experiences in relationships and final decisions, leading to final consequences. We are learning that powerful relationships are transformative ones. It isn’t exactly pleasant to transform, but it is self-empowering. This is a process of acknowledging our hidden emotions and fears, so we can do something about them.
Capricorn is about discipline, effort, pragmatism, concrete and long-term energies. Both in our personal and collective lives, we are dealing with structures and patterns that have operated for a long time and that require a great change. We are facing the death of old values - rigid and materialistic values. We are rebuilding these conditions, creating a new sense of value we put in natural resources, money, the economy and all infrastructure we have built in our lives and in our society. We are inevitably re-thinking how we should use these things and how they should impact our relationships to one another.
Since Venus also symbolizes the feminine, this is a time for acknowledging the remaining male chauvinism in society. It dictates behaviours that perpetuate gender prejudices, violence and women’s financial and social dependency on men. There is a resurrection here for all women, to be more engaged in professional and social affairs, especially in parts of the world where they are still confined to domestic concerns.
Empowerment of love, nature and women are some of the positive aspects, but there can also be an increase of violence and abuse towards women and nature, new sexual infections and increased economic inequality. With Pluto, it is all or nothing. We go through a resurrection, we are reborn from the ashes, or we just see the end of something leaving an empty space that will have to be fulfilled somehow.
Lunar Nodes in Taurus-Scorpio axis
Just as the second conjunction between Venus and Pluto is taking place, right after the solstice, the Lunar Nodes are changing signs. North Node is entering Taurus, Venus’ sign, and South Node is entering Scorpio, Pluto’s sign. This transit will last for 18 months, when we will be accessing new values and attracting them to our lives, disposing of everything that no longer resonates with who we have become.
It is essential that we make room for the new - the new home, new relationship, new income. But we should be aware that we can only attract to us what we intimately believe we deserve. The new values are born out of a new self-value. That’s why it is so important that we use this time to transform inside. We shouldn’t be giving excuses for our behaviour, denying our shadows (hidden emotions and fears) and just trying to find someone or something that doesn’t awaken these shadows in us. Instead, we should be willing to heal whatever it is that instigates our defense mechanisms.
Of course this is easier said than done. Maybe we just don’t know how to heal and change. The first step is to acknowledge our shadows - to say “I am this person: fearful, jealous, manipulative, abusive, abused, …”. Then, we want to start focusing on how we desire to be. We will have to work out this new self-value so it can be strong enough to attract new conditions.
So, I hope this has provided some things to consider. You can always contact me for a more personal understanding on how this transit is working in your life.
I wish us a powerful solstice rebirth! ;-)
