Saturn in Pisces and what is ultimately important - 2023 to 2026

Atualizado: 17 de mar. de 2023

This is one of the most important transits in Astrology! Saturn, the giant ringed planet, symbol for authority and wisdom, will be transiting the last sign of the zodiac, Pisces. We are talking about a critical time for our soul growth, a time when we experience a great transition.

Saturn

Let’s start from the beginning…

Imagine that your soul is a tree. There are phases and cycles in a tree’s life. There is, for example, a phase for setting roots, a phase for sprouting, one for blossoming and another for shedding leaves. Now, imagine that each phase of this tree’s life, each of its cycles, is commanded by an agent of that specific phase, a force that causes that tree to go through that specific phase.

Similarly, our souls go through phases and cycles which are commanded by the agents of these phases and cycles. In Astrology, those are the spiritual forces which we relate to the planets in our solar system. The solar system and the planets themselves are macrocosmic symbols for the microcosmic agents present in our experience as souls living on the Earth.

Yes, it may sound complex and abstract, but it actually makes sense when we are trying to understand the concept of soul. For the soul, symbols and correlation of experiences are a very real concern, because they have a powerful impact in consciousness. Consequently, they impact the perception of life and how one goes about it, as one starts to really see life as precious time we all have as souls living on the Earth.

I wanted to share this concept with you, so you can grasp the importance of Saturn in Astrology.

Saturn is a structuring force, an agent of structural growth in our soul’s tree. Saturn makes that tree achieve its maturity, and become a robust and leafy tree. In other words, Saturn is the agent of maturity and wisdom in the soul.

Now, how Saturn operates is not always understood. And it’s certainly never pleasant. There is a famous quote that says “A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.” Indeed, it is through hardship that Saturn teaches us how to endure in life.

Saturn will put burdens and difficulties in our way, so we can test our capacity to be persistent and to have the discipline to overcome them. You can be sure that burdens and difficulties are there not to curse you, but either to protect you or to prevent you from doing something harmful (not to say stupid). But as we mature and develop the skills we need to overcome these burdens and difficulties, well, that’s when we can really overcome them: when we become able to do it.

Saturn will show us what truly is our responsibility in life, when we have the necessary maturity and wisdom to deal with it. There is a point when we must realize that we are the ones to understand this responsibility. It can’t be given to us by another as an obligation. It is not something that clashes with our values or with how we want to use our time. Your responsibility in life must be something that you genuinely agree to take in your hands, because that's the only way you can actually take it.

In your natal chart, Saturn is symbolic of how your soul’s tree shall look like, when it gets mature, if it really does achieve that maturity. Saturn in your natal chart is symbolic of the structures you are supposed to build over time, as you become more aware of yourself, your patterns, capacities and limitations. This is what you can achieve and build by taking the responsibility for yourself in face of adversity, exercising self control, discipline and persistence. This is what you can achieve and build if you accept your true responsibility in life wholeheartedly.

Saturn in Pisces (2023 - 2026)

On March 7th 2023, Saturn enters Pisces, where it will transit until early 2026, with a short passage through Aries in between.

Now that you have grasped the importance of Saturn in Astrology and in your natal chart, let’s dive into what it means to have Saturn transiting Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac.

Saturn in Pisces is about the responsibility of keeping and developing spiritual values. These spiritual values allow us to see life through a spiritual lens, so we can handle life’s hardships from a spiritual perspective. Saturn in Pisces will show us what we need to remember, and what is ultimately important. We can really develop a stronger spiritual base during this time. And it can be so empowering to our own personal responsibility in life (indicated by Saturn in the natal chart).

Saturn in Pisces can make you understand that you are a spiritual being, an essential energy animating your body, which is also made of energy. Your spiritual essence is constantly interacting with your body and, according to the level of integration between your spirit and your body, you experience soul growth. You feel more and more aligned, centered and connected to what is around you.

Saturn in Pisces is helping us become more spiritually structured, so we can better integrate spiritual energies in ourselves. We can become more aware of the spiritual values and how they can totally change our lives, for real. They open us up to unknown dimensions of life which can actually inspire us greatly.

But, what are those spiritual values?

It is only one, actually: love. Love and everything that comes from it like beauty, justice, harmony, compassion, service, connection, forgiveness, faith. Love is what brings together rather than separates me from the other, in my consciousness. And that’s important to highlight: it’s in my consciousness. This transcendent love of Pisces is not a physical union with another being, but actually it is something we reunite with and make peace with inside ourselves.

Pisces symbol is two fish swimming in opposite directions. So, there is an ending and separation in Pisces. But it is a beneficial ending, a beneficial physical separation, which brings about transcendence, forgiveness, compassion… and union! It can be really difficult for our minds to understand this kind of experience, this kind of love. But it is love, in its most sacred form.

Now, if what ends in Pisces was something painful to us, then we can experience total freedom from this pain, total freedom from sorrow. We can forgive people who have caused us harm. We can forgive ourselves, and be forgiven. Then gradually we go from forgiving to forgetting, until there is no need to remember that painful experience.

Now, if what ends in Pisces was something good that we love, then we can experience total assimilation of that good experience and that love. And this is real union from the soul’s perspective.

For example, in Pisces’ ultimate ending - death -, when someone that we love dies, it feels painful because we never wanted that person to go away in the first place. But this experience actually offers us the chance to assimilate all the love and good things we lived with that person. We can assimilate all that was good in that relationship, all that taught us something important and valuable. We can assimilate all the love they felt for us. In that sense, they don’t really go away. They actually become a part of who we are. We are then reunited from the soul’s perspective.

While Saturn transits through Pisces, we can really absorb all that we have gained and learnt from our most challenging experiences. And it means different things for different people, but when we talk about Saturn, we are talking about grand cycles in our lives, crucial and important experiences that relate to our personal spiritual duty in this life - which some people would call “dharma” in a simplified manner. So, it really is huge!

Take some time to consider your life’s most important moments. Consider the hardest things you have had to do, the hardest choices, the harder work. Consider your life’s biggest challenges. They all relate to Saturn. Through these hardships, you could test your limits, test your persistence and capacity to focus; you could prioritize and manage something that was in our hands to deal with. Through these hardships, you could also understand your personal limitations.

Now, with Saturn in Pisces, you can absorb all the wisdom you have gathered and transcend a cycle of hardship in your life. This doesn’t mean there won’t be any more hardship, but it will be of a different kind. But, hey! Do not bother about that. We should actually try to see hardship through another lens, to understand its value, to see how all life evolves out of challenges and hardship.

This transit will affect you more the older you are. And that’s because if you are, let’s say, 60 years old, you have already experienced Saturn in Pisces, about 30 years ago, as well as other aspects from Saturn in your chart. Well, that’s natural, the older you are, the more mature you are, or should be!

So, this is a time to assimilate all the wisdom you have gathered from previous cycles, and finally transcend some of your limitations.

Saturn will enter Aries on February 14th 2026, and will not return to Pisces for about 30 years.

Blessed be. 🙇‍
