This is the sprouting of the Pisces lunar cycle, which started with the Pisces New Moon on February 20th, when we were encouraged to begin a process of releasing and letting go, in a certain area of our lives. Now the Sun and the Moon are in a square, that is, 90 degrees apart, a stressful astrological aspect which prompts us to take action. Find the house of your chart which has Gemini in its beginning so you can better understand how this phase can help you out with your releasing process.
February 27th: Gemini First Quarter Moon
So, we are in Pisces cycle and this is a time for letting go, releasing and allowing the end of something in our lives. This was the intention of the Pisces New Moon, and it can mean different things for different people. It could be the end of a relationship, a job, a belief, an income, it could be the end of a behavior or the end of life, the loss of a loved one.
But now with the Gemini first quarter moon, we are focusing on the present moment. We are talking to people, making our daily connections, taking care of our business. We should take some time to pay attention to the people around us, the people who are taking classes with us, or selling us our daily bread. They may help us out during this time, and you can be surprised with how an occasional encounter, a smile or ride can just light us up now.
While in Pisces we are inevitably dealing with some powerful emotions, during the Gemini moon we want to make it lighter, we want to rationalize it and just make it simple. And while in Pisces we feel entangled by other people’s emotions, now in Gemini first quarter, we have a chance to consider other people’s perspective on something, but keep an emotional distance.
And that emotional distance is supported in this cycle by other aspects too, as we will see.
Venus is prominent in this cycle
Venus is the agent of peace and security, deeply rooted in our sense of self and how we handle relationships. Venus is now in Aries, a challenging combination, because Venus rules Libra, which is the sign opposite to Aries. Thus, Aries is different from Libra just like the day is different from the night. But this also makes Aries and Libra complementary energies, although it is not an easy task to balance opposite energies.
Venus in Aries is a contradiction in itself, because Venus is the agent of peace and security, while Aries is the energy of fighting and beginning something totally new.
But during this cycle, Venus is actually helping us master this energy. The new moon, which was the beginning of the cycle, was marked by Venus in the very last degree of Pisces, the very last degree of the whole zodiac. And by the end of this lunar cycle, Venus will be closing the sign of Aries, offering us the opportunity to master this energy, to master our personal will, master our desires and need to have autonomy and have leadership in some area of our lives.
This is the time to choose what you truly want, standing up for yourself, in your own defense and in defense of what you think is right for yourself.
Now, Venus is conjunct Jupiter and Chiron, which adds to the expression of this strong spirit. Depending on the circumstances, there can be a lot of fighting and arguing, especially because the Moon is near Mars, both in Gemini, which may give us a tendency toward aggressive words, especially if we already have this tendency in ourselves.
Ultimately, Venus in Aries is helping us fight for our values, raising our self-worth and our self-confidence. Venus is also helping us take the leadership and the initiative. Conjunct Jupiter, this energy is greatly enhanced, even to the point of exaggeration, but potentially expanding our understanding of our own way of relating to others and to what's around us. It is all based on our own sense of personal value, self-worth and deservingness (Venus), which makes us fight (Aries) for something greater (Jupiter). And this is a belief we have, in ourselves, that we have the will power to attract to ourselves what it is that we truly believe we deserve.
Moon in Gemini square the Sun in Pisces
During this phase, we can actually learn so much more about ourselves! This is a time to test and experiment with the possibilities we can see just around the corner. This is a time to talk, to learn and try something new just to see if it fits our skills. We are in a discovery process so we can prepare ourselves for making a choice later on, during the last quarter moon in Sagittarius.

This is not a time to commit to anything rather than yourself. You have been making room for something new but first you are knowing yourself better, to know what you really want.
This aspect prompts us to act quickly and rashly, and that’s why we shouldn’t commit to anything or anyone, because we may regret it just ahead. This is a time to take it easy and cool, without serious considerations rather than the observation of your life’s possibilities now. Let's use this energy to experiment with the possibilities, rather than making choices.
The Yod pointing to the South Node is showing us that quick and rash decisions will keep us in the past, in outdated patterns of behavior and outdated feelings and needs. All of us are going through important changes in some areas of our lives, especially now with Pluto and Saturn about to change signs. We should be aware of these tendencies during this cycle of Pisces, so we don’t rush into the wrong choices for ourselves.
Moon sextile Venus can turn out to be favorable for understanding just exactly what it is that you want and that you are not willing to give away. It can be good for understanding your own true will about something, what we feel deserving of and that is not negotiable. This helps in conquering a space, raising your sense of self-value and self-confidence. We are making things clearer in our minds before making commitments.

This is helping us in easily letting go of difficult emotions, letting go of attachments and sorrow. It is showing us that forgiveness and compassion are possible. It is preparing us for the great transit of Saturn through Pisces, which is just about to start, still in this cycle. There will be karma being released, karma being “burnt” as they say. Past actions which may have caused harm in one way or another, will soon be released from harder consequences, because they have been somehow forgiven, they have met the energy of compassion.
Saturn in critical last degree of Aquarius (will enter Pisces just before the Sagittarius last quarter moon and the end of this cycle)
The end of Aquarius is about mastering your responsibilities to yourself, your future and others in your life which are somehow heavily impacted by your decisions, like your children, your partners, maybe your students or coworkers, or those who just take you as a model to follow. And this requires great self-knowledge, which is absolutely supported during this phase.
Saturn will soon enter Pisces, and this is about the endurance of spiritual values, the things which not even death can take away from us. We will be experiencing a deep transitional time during the next two years or so, while Saturn transits through Pisces. Everything which is supposed to be dissolved and ended, will be dissolved and ended until the end of the transit. And we will then see what survives and what resists this deep transition, to reach to the other side, to our brand new beginnings when Saturn enters Aries in 2026. And I will be here to talk about it all, when the time comes.
