New Moon in Aquarius
Sun and Moon united (conjunct) at 12°19’ of Aquarius
Aquarius is the eleventh “hour” of the zodiac “clock”. After the well established structures and patterns of Capricorn and before the transcendence and letting go of Pisces, we have Aquarius, which is about:
Reformation, renovation, innovation, revolution;
Going beyond limitations, making changes;
Disrupting useless patterns;
Forward thinking, future orientation, anticipation;
Seeing what’s equal in everyone, what defines humanity;
Being impersonal and unattached;
Ideals and abstract thought, theoretical science, technology;
Making multiple connections, global community, human rights;
Adding insight in knowledge;
Being recognized for our gifts, our merits;
Sharing, especially knowledge and experiences.
Being part of a group or community.
Aquarius is ruled by Saturn and Uranus. In this new moon, Saturn is conjunct the Sun and the Moon in Aquarius and they are all square to Uranus in Taurus. Uranus is direct since the Sun entered Aquarius on January 20th.
Besides Aquarius, Saturn also rules Capricorn, its exclusive ruler, and there are three personal planets in Capricorn during most part of this cycle: Mercury (which is retrograde in the beginning of the cycle), Venus and Mars (which are going to be conjunct soon).
Finally, we are seeing Mercury conjunctions to Pluto (transpersonal planet, which is also in Capricorn) from Dec 30th 2021, then Jan 29th and Feb 11th 2022.
So, there are four planets in Capricorn, the sign of Saturn, which is conjunct with this new moon. Capricorn, the sign before Aquarius, is about structure, patterns, authority, wisdom and all the benefits we can have from valuing and honouring a well known path that provides security and social acceptance, like a cultural tradition or career status. This sign is also about discipline, ambition and the process of conquering an authoritative position.
But Saturn is in Aquarius, and together with the Sun and Moon, they are under pressure from Uranus (the other ruler of Aquarius). So, this cycle is being pressured by change and innovation, and it’s time to think outside of the box too.
We must be responsible and disciplined if we want to make a change, reformation or breakthrough. We must be realistic and pragmatic, with a bit of innovation and forward thinking. Remember that it may refer to a specific situation in your life, depending on your natal astrological energies. For that deeper understanding, you need to know in which house of your natal chart this new moon is happening and aspects it may make to other planets. You can contact me for a personal reading if you like.
So, the sky is saying that we benefit from being both innovative and conservative. We should couple what we know well with a little audacity. What are the wise actions you can take about what you value to benefit from the changes? How can you adapt to something new, using what you have? It’s time to put your energy and apply what you value in a realistic manner that can help you go through times of change.
Mercury aligned with (conjunct) Pluto in Capricorn
We have been under this energy since Dec 2021. We may have dark thoughts and feel discouraged. There can be a lot of fear and anxiety. But Pluto is here to test us and we should be empowered by it. Once we can make it through these dark thoughts, we can turn them into strategy. When we know how we can be tricked by our own thoughts and feelings, we can develop a strategy to deal with them without being misled in our path. Pay attention to people and situations that trigger your fears and feelings of discouragement, and learn not to be distracted by them.
Mercury also symbolises communication, information, documents and sales. There can be an empowering conversation, a hidden information that comes to light, a sale that changes everything or an understanding of unsolved mysteries. And it is extremely important that you don’t miss this, because Mercury and Pluto are in harmony with (trine) the North Node of future developments. This is helping you grow spiritually. But when Mercury turns direct, it will conjunct Pluto again, so happily we are having more than one chance to experience this.
Venus in Capricorn in harmony with (trine) Uranus in Taurus
Venus in Capricorn is in a close trine to Uranus, which suggests that we benefit from being cautious, realistic and reasonable about our unions and resources. Still, we are given a chance to attract something that may be revolutionary but it is actually good for us.
There is something about the past, traditions and old style of doing things that can be coupled with the innovations. Living life like in the old days may be beneficial now, although there are adaptations we must make to satisfy our modern needs. Traditions and traditional ways of handling resources and the economy can help us with sudden upheavals in conditions of the earth and nature, abundance and fertility, which can bring great instability.
Food production can be revolutionised by applying some traditional concepts that may have been forgotten. There can be a turn to the past to find solutions to our modern problems: organic, sustainable, handmade solutions that prioritise the conservation of natural resources. There is pressure to reform what has become obsolete and even harmful to humanity and the world, especially the way we consume and deal with food, natural resources and money.
First Quarter in Taurus
This is the time to collect your resources and prepare yourself for the changes that are being required of you. In times of turbulence and surprises, we all want to have a secure place that we can go. But Uranus is asking us to find that secure place somewhere else, or build it ourselves. We are developing our capacity to be abundant and secure on a material basis and this relates to the North Node having recently entered Taurus.
Now, during this phase, Mercury has already turned direct and tightened its conjunction to Pluto in Capricorn. They are also in a harmonic aspect (trine) with the North Node in Taurus one more time, offering an open door to a future path of spiritual and material abundance. And this is because the North Node is a symbol for spiritual growth and Taurus is a symbol for resources. So, this cycle is teaching us to grow both internally and externally, by generating a new source of abundance in our lives.
Because Mercury is a symbol for the mind and communication, this is also a time to empower our speech. Go to the core of matters when making your point. Be careful with manipulative information and don't try to manipulate others yourself. To take the best of this aspect we should concentrate on the essentials and know when to speak and what.
The exact conjunction of Mercury to Pluto will happen on February 4th. By the same time, the Moon will be conjunct Lilith in Gemini, which is Mercury's sign, and in tension (square) with Neptune in Pisces. This is an alert to take care with illusions! Information we receive or give may not be true. There can be a lot of saying, not enough doing, pertaining to contracts, documents, interviews and sales. To take the best of this aspect we should be aware of the need to prove the capability of accomplishment. Focus on the essentials and make it simple so it can be accomplished.
Now, Mars is in harmony with (a close trine to) Uranus and Mars stands for action. We are starting to put our money, time and resources into what we have planned. We are starting to invest in something different. We are still required to be cautious and responsible, but also audacious and revolutionary. We are starting to apply resources we have now so we can generate new ones later. How can you make the best use of what you got, so you can get what you want?
Full Moon in Leo
On a full moon night, the Moon is opposite the Sun in the sky. Now, this full moon is in the sign of Leo, which is ruled by the Sun currently in Aquarius, as well as Saturn. This is a symbol for a powerful sharing of energy between individuals of a group. As a result of collective processes, individuals of a group are affected by what the group has generated under the leadership of authority figures and institutions.
Now, if the Aquarius positive traits are present, there is a great chance for success and individuals of a group may receive an upsurge of creative energy. Great leaders and institutions which have worked for the sharing of accumulated human knowledge, the appliance of intelligent technologies and which have demonstrated foresight are characteristic of the positive side of this aspect.
On the other hand, there is potential for an increase in selfishness and egotism, if these are already prominent in a group.
On a more personal level, there is potential for a release from inhibitions which have prevented us from being part of a group. We can then make the right connections for us and be part of a group that resonates with who we are now.
Venus united with (conjunct) Mars in Capricorn
Venus is a symbol for ownership and partnership, while Mars stands for survival and power. These planets aligned in Capricorn means it is time to invest your energy and resources in long-term goals. Invest in projects and alliances that help you go beyond your current comfort zone and personal limitations.
Mars is exalted in Capricorn, which means that we want to get to the top, and we can have the discipline for it. We want to achieve the best outcome possible and the best view. Also relationships will play an important role in making things happen, so be aware of who you want by your side in this.
Mercury in Aquarius
Mercury will have reached Aquarius by the time of this full moon. This means we can start to operate changes, make more connections and have access to revolutionizing or revealing information. We should concentrate on looking for new solutions and new ideas to improve our goals and projects, making the necessary adaptations.
Last Quarter in Sagittarius
In the waning phase of the cycle, the Sun will have reached Pisces, ruled by Jupiter and Neptune, both currently in Pisces too. The moon is in Sagittarius, exclusively ruled by Jupiter.
The waning phase is the end of a cycle, when we gather what we have learned and prepare for the next cycle. But with such a strong presence in the sign of Pisces (the last sign of the zodiac), we are dealing with "grand finales" in our lives. Again, to understand what it means for you, you need to begin by analysing which house of your chart has Pisces. This is where you are transcending your ego and letting go with a sense of faith in the unknown. Be aware that this is a spiritual process taking place collectively.
There can be great confusion during this time and great losses ahead, which are also possible outcomes. If we haven't done what was in our hands to do we can experience a downfall. But even frustration can teach us a lot, especially during these times.
We should be aware that Jupiter and Neptune in Pisces are starting to open many doors, which can be overwhelming. There are many possible outcomes, it depends on what we have created with our own energy. Humanity is experiencing an expansion of consciousness, we are growing as energetic beings immersed in a vast universe of infinite potential.
Right now, because of Capricorn energies, we can benefit from Pisces energies being imaginative and idealistic without being deluded and impractical. We are actually preparing for the Pisces Lunar Cycle, which starts in the next new moon on March 2nd.
Jupiter and Neptune will soon make a rare alignment in Pisces and I will make a special post about it next month, given the importance of this transit.
Now, Saturn is weakening the square to Uranus, which we saw all along in 2021, and will enter Pisces in March 2023. That's when we are going to see the consolidation of what was created in the imaginative and transcendent realm of Pisces. That's also when we will see the ending process be concluded. So, we should work with these higher frequencies now to benefit from them in the near future, exercising compassion, empathy and detachment.
